ST. PAUL (KMHL) – A Minnesota lawmaker is drafting legislation to allow college athletes in Minnesota to be able to receive endorsements and retain agents without putting their scholarships at risk.

Sen. Roger Chamberlain’s (R-Lino Lakes) bill would allow college athletes to accept compensation for the use of their name, image and likeness and to have agents represent them without affecting their scholarships.

Chamberlain calls it a matter of fairness to athletes as universities and the NCAA profit off their likenesses.
