Doris Henslin Foesch, age 1 day shy of 101, of Buffalo Lake formerly of Bird Island, MN passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the Buffalo Lake Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Bird Island with Pastor Susan Christianson officiating.  Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Clara City on Monday. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

Doris was born April 22, 1923, at home, in Artichoke Township near Correll, MN, the daughter of Ralph and Elly (Swenson) Maynard. She was baptized May 27, 1923 at Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed May 27, 1937, in Odessa, MN.  In 1941 Doris graduated from Correll High School. After high school, she attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, S.D.  Upon completion of college, Doris taught in numerous one room country schools. On June 9th, 1946, Doris married John Willliam Henslin of Raymond, MN.   They were married until John’s death in 1958.  Doris and John had four children: Eunice, Jon, LaDon, and Vickie.  Doris finished her teaching career in Bird Island, MN where she taught into her 80″s. She loved teaching, playing cards, board games, gardening, quilting and gathering with family. She had an amazingly strong faith and was an active member of Our Saviors for over 60 years. On March 16th, 1973, Doris married Erwin Foesch in Bird Island, MN, and his three children and their families became her family too: Robert (Jeanne) Foesch, Ray (Charlotte) Foesch and Freya (Tom) Tersteeg.

Celebrating her life on Earth are her four children and their spouses: Eunice and David Wallis of Australia, Jon and Nancy (Smith) of Brookings, S.D., LaDon and Annette (Hemze) of Bird Island, and Vickie and Wayne Radloff of Lynd, MN; her 17 grandchildren: David (Hope) Wallis, Daniel Wallis, Matthew (Elvira) Wallis,  Deborah (Richard) Napier, John (Angela) Henslin, Joshua (Jennifer) Henslin, Allen (Leslie) Henslin, Beki (Derek) Rieck, James and Timothy Radloff, Daniel (Kim) Tersteeg, Jayne (Duke) Lange, Denise (Paul) Moe, Lisa Hirschman (Tim Kremer), Billy Foesch, David (Sharon) Foesch, and Chad (Cyndi) Foesch; her 36 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and her God Children. Greeting her in Heaven are her parents; husband John; twin sister, Phyllis; four other sisters: Faye, Arliene, Audrey and Shirley and their spouses; great-granddaughter, Amelia; husband, Erwin and his children: Ray, Freya, and Bob and their spouses, and many relatives and friends.
