DE FOREST, Wis. — The Wisconsin State Patrol has released the names of a Clara City man and a Montevideo woman that were the victims of a wrong-way collision on I-39 in Dane County near De Forest, Wisconsin.

At approximately 12:03 Sunday, July 20, a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling in the wrong direction, southbound in the northbound lanes of I-39 and collided with a 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan.

A passenger in the Volkswagen, 18-year-old Hallie Helgeson of Montevideo, died from injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the Volkswagen, 19-year-old Brady Heiling from Clara City, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene. He was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 30-year-old Noelia Martinez Avila of Portage, Wisconsin, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was placed under arrest for operating while impaired.

While a reconstruction of the crash was underway, a 2007 Acura TL was traveling southbound on I-39, crossed the center line, and collided with a parked Law Enforcement 2023 Ford Explorer. The emergency lights were fully lit. The Ford was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Acura, 23-year-old Isaac Hall from McFarland, Wisconsin, and his passenger, 23-year-old Skyler Brackob from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Hall was arrested for operating while impaired.
