Violet Berg, age 87, of Marshall, Minnesota, died surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held at the Hamilton Funeral Home, followed by interment in the Israel Lutheran Cemetery near Clarkfield, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Israel Lutheran Cemetery Fund.  The Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall is handling the arrangements.

Violet Anna Minnie Olson was born on May 26, 1935, to Julian and Fannie (Parkin) Olson in the Township of Stoneham, Chippewa County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School with the class of 1953. Violet then went to the Charles T. Miller School of Nursing in the Twin Cities and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked at the Charles T. Miller Hospital until she transferred out to the Montevideo hospital.  Violet was united in marriage to Arden Berg on February 22, 1958, at the Maynard Lutheran Church and they resided on farms South of Clarkfield. They raised three children: Janell, Kenneth, and Arlys. Violet was a devoted mother and enjoyed caring for others during her nursing career.  Violet was active in her churches, namely teaching Sunday School and participating in many church circle groups. Her other enjoyments included quilting, gardening, working outdoors, cooking, canning, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Clarkfield and also volunteered many hours at the Clarkfield Care Center.

Violet Berg died on July 20, 2022, in Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 25 days.  Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her 3 children, Janell (Tim) Travis of Eden Prairie; Kenneth (Barb) Berg of Gary, SD, Arlys Berg (Tim Green) of West Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren, Jacob Travis of Ottertail, Travis (Glorianne) Berg of Cheyenne, WY, Luke (Erin) Berg of Clarkfield, Jarett (Natasha) Berg of Clarkfield, Sarah (Jamison) Bartz of Clarkfield, Zachary Gunderson of Ottertail, Vanessa Engel of Ottertail; 16 great-grandchildren, Ava, Benjamin, Ciara, Olivia, Julia, John, Ella, Leighton, Charlie, Stephen, Thea, Aria, Baby Boy Bartz (on the way), Gus, Zeke, Tegan, Taya; 3 siblings, Yvonne Stottler of Excelsior, Ronald (Diane) Olson of Clara City, Donald Olson of Hastings; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.  Violet is preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Fannie Olson; husband, Arden Berg; great-granddaughter, Mary Ellen Berg; and sisters, Baby Girl Olson, Joyce Johnson, Gloria Olson, and Lorraine Doose.
