The streamlined version of Shakespeare's popular and controversial comedy The Taming of the Shrew will feature an energetic, satiric, modern spin on gender, power, and relationships. The Taming of the Shrew will alternate performances with The Taming, a hilarious farce exploring those same issues through the lens of today's political landscape...and the Miss America pageant! A sneak peek preview of the world Premier of "Playing Haydn for the Angel of Death" will be held at 7:30pm on Tuesday, May 17th at the Campus Religious Center at SMSU. The world premier for the event is scheduled for May 21st at 7:30pm at the Open Book Literary Arts Center in Minneapolis, MN. No cost for the showing in Marshall.
Area candidates for the Minnesota Legislature will face off in a virtual forum at 7 PM on Wednesday, October 21st. There will be panels for House and Senate candidates from Districts 16 and 22. Due to Covid restrictions the event will not be open to the public, but can be followed live on KMHL AM 1400 and Studio One community television. Sponsored by the SMSU Political Science Association and Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce, this is the latest in a series of candidate forums dating to 1992. Freshmen will arrive on campus for Southwest Minnesota State University’s Gold Rush Days orientation Aug. 22-25. Classes begin for all students on Monday, Aug. 26. Orientation is an opportunity for students to meet fellow first-year students while participating in a number of activities that help acclimate them to college life at SMSU. “We are excited to extend a warm Mustang welcome to the Class of 2023.
