RENVILLE — Two men were airlifted with serious injuries after a workplace accident near Renville on Friday, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 6:34 a.m., a report was received that two men were seriously injured in a workplace accident at the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Coop in rural Renville County, about two miles northeast of Renville.
22-year-old Chance Anderson of Adams, MN, and 30-year-old Tedrick Coleman of Baton Rouge, LA, were working atop scaffolding when their coworkers attempted to reposition it. The scaffolding tipped over, causing both men to fall 35-40 feet inside a storage tank.
Emergency crews provided medical care on scene, then Coleman was airlifted by LifeLink III to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries, while Anderson was transported by Olivia Ambulance to the Olivia Airport, where he was also flown to St. Cloud Hospital. Both men are being treated for suspected serious injuries.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Olivia Ambulance Service, Renville Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, and LifeLink III air care.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
