WOOD LAKE — A fire destroyed a turkey barn east of Wood Lake on Monday afternoon.
The blaze was reported at a farm on 590th Street in Yellow Medicine County, about four miles east of Wood Lake. By the time firefighters arrived, the barn was fully engulfed in flames. Crews from Wood Lake, Echo, Hanley Falls, Cottonwood, and Granite Falls Fire Departments responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the fire.
No turkeys were in the barn at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected.
