MARSHALL – The City of Marshall recently recognized Lona Rae Konold as the 2024 Employee of the Year during the Annual Employee Recognition Event on January 24, 2025.

Ms. Konold, who began her career with the city in 1993 as Secretary for Engineering and has served as Administrative Assistant for the Public Works Department since 2006, was honored for her outstanding contributions to public service.

The Employee of the Year award, established in 2010, celebrates individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication and achievement in advancing the city’s services. City Administrator Sharon Hanson highlighted the importance of Ms. Konold’s role, saying, “The Public Works Department plays a crucial role in keeping our city running smoothly, and the department would not be able to perform as well as they do without Ms. Konold, who ensures smooth and efficient operations. Lona Rae is a true team player, one who often makes others feel at ease just by being around her and is a person who can stay calm in any situation.”

Her colleagues also praised her expertise and dedication. Public Works Director Jason Anderson remarked, “Lona Rae’s dedication, experience, and knowledge are critical to the success of numerous public works functions, and we are grateful to have Lona Rae on our team. Lona Rae’s energy is so positive, and we feel her presence in our office every day.”
