MARSHALL – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is set to begin tree and brush removal along Highway 19 in Marshall within the next two weeks in preparation for a major reconstruction project starting in May. The clearing work is expected to be completed by March 31.

Travel Impacts:

  • Drivers may experience shoulder and lane closures.
  • Flaggers may direct traffic during cleanup efforts.
  • Motorists are urged to slow down and stay alert for workers and heavy equipment.

The tree removal is necessary along select areas from Marlene Street to the Bruce Street intersection to accommodate construction and sidewalk improvements while minimizing disruption to nesting northern long-eared bats.

The two-year Highway 19 reconstruction project will include new pavement, utility replacements, a single-lane roundabout, and updated sidewalks to meet ADA standards. Replacement trees will be planted in fall 2026.
