Sacred Heart, MN: On Sunday, March 3, 2024, around 10:02 AM, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office regarding a 43-year-old male suspect involved in a felony-level domestic assault case. The suspect had fled from the scene in Granite Falls and was believed to be at a residence in Sacred Heart. Deputies from the Renville County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the Sacred Heart residence and located the suspect’s vehicle, but initial attempts to establish contact with the suspect were unsuccessful. Suspecting the suspect to be inside, a perimeter was established around the residence situated on the 400 Block of 5th Avenue South in Sacred Heart. 

As efforts to contact the suspect continued, additional information emerged, indicating potential threatening comments and the possession of firearms by the suspect. In response to the escalating situation, the Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Emergency Response Unit (SWAT team) was activated and promptly dispatched. Upon arrival, crisis negotiators from the SWAT team successfully made telephone contact with the suspect and negotiated his surrender. At approximately 2:24 PM, the suspect exited the residence and was safely taken into custody. 

Following the arrest, the suspect underwent assessment at the scene by the Granite Falls Ambulance Service. Subsequently, custody of the suspect was transferred to the Granite Falls Police Department, which facilitated his transport to the Chippewa County Jail. Assistance was provided by the Granite Falls Police Department, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, MN State Patrol, and the MN Dept of Natural Resources.
