(WABASSO, MN) A juvenile driver was injured and at least one student was taken to the hospital after an SUV rear-ended a school bus Wednesday morning near Wabasso in Redwood County.
According to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at about 7:33 a.m. on April 22 to CSAH 7 just south of 270th St in Vail Township for a reported crash involving a school bus and an SUV. While responding, deputies learned the bus had more than 20 occupants and the SUV driver was hurt.
Authorities said a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a juvenile from rural Vesta struck the rear of a 2015 school bus driven by Christina Flesner of Tracy. The SUV driver was transported by ambulance. Officials said at least one juvenile passenger on the bus was also taken to the hospital via private party.
Assistance was provided by the Minnesota State Patrol, Wabasso Fire Department, Wabasso Ambulance, and CentraCare Ambulance.
