SAINT PAUL – The Minnesota State Canvassing Board has officially certified the results of the 2024 General Election. Meeting on November 21 under the leadership of Secretary of State Steve Simon, the board finalized outcomes for federal, state, and judicial contests, including the presidential race.

A record 3,272,414 Minnesotans voted, representing 76.35% of eligible voters. This solidified Minnesota’s position as the national leader in voter turnout, boosted by the restoration of voting rights for over 55,000 individuals previously disenfranchised.

“Once again, Minnesotans have proven that we are the state to beat when it comes to voter turnout,” said Secretary Simon. “Elections truly are a team sport, and we are grateful for every Minnesotan who participated in this year’s election by voting or serving as an election judge.”

Notably, absentee and mail-in voting accounted for 39.84% of ballots cast, a significant increase from 2016’s 22.8%, though still below the 58% peak during the 2020 pandemic.

Recounts have been initiated in two state legislative races.

  • House District 14B: A discretionary recount covering three Sherburne County precincts begins November 25. The recount may expand to the entire district depending on the results and candidate decisions.
  • House District 54A: A publicly funded recount within Scott County was conducted on November 21, with results to be certified on November 25.

The State Canvassing Board will reconvene after the recounts are completed.
