Ronald “Ron” Kuehl age 85 of Walnut Grove passed away peacefully Saturday, January 10, 2026 at his home.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14th at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at church on Wednesday.  Interment is in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.  Memorials are preferred to Our House Hospice of Murray County.   Stephens Funeral Service – Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ronald “Ron” Kuehl was born on June 22, 1940, in Springfield, Minnesota, the son of William and Elizabeth Kuehl. He was raised in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, where he attended Walnut Grove Public Schools. Ron was a proud member of the Walnut Grove Loggers basketball team which placed fourth in the Minnesota State Tournament in 1957.  Ron graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Following college, Ron was a member of the Air National Guard and began his career in banking at First National Bank of Minneapolis and later at Wayzata Bank. Following the death of his father, Ron returned to Walnut Grove, where he continued his banking career at the Citizens State Bank. He was an active member of the Walnut Grove Lions Club reflecting his commitment to service and community.  In December of 1975, Ron married Debra Kampa. Together they raised two sons, Ronny and Whitney. Ron deeply loved being a father and husband and took great pride in his family.  Ron enjoyed sports, hunting, playing poker with his friends, and playing the piano. He especially cherished simple pleasures like spending time at home with his family, going to church, taking drives, and doing puzzles.

Ron is survived by his wife, Debra; his sons, Ronny (Lisa) and Whitney (Molly); his grandchildren, Mia, Sophie, Layla, Grant, Cooper, and Charlie; his sister, Phyllis (Al) Zumach; and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Kuehl, who was married to Ron’s brother, Bill Kuehl, who preceded him in death. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet service to his country, and his dedication to the Walnut Grove community.
