Mass of Christian Burial for Ralph Eugene Patrick Joseph Leifgen, 85, of Marshall, will be Monday, July 1, 2024, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. A public visitation will take place at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the mass Monday at the Remembrance Center. Upon conclusion of the funeral Mass there will be a luncheon held at church. Burial will take place at St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley following the funeral luncheon. The Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall is handling the arrangements.
Ralph Eugene Patrick Joseph Leifgen was born on November 11, 1938, to Peter and Elizabeth (Korth) Leifgen in Beresford, SD. He grew up in Beresford and graduated from Beresford High School in 1955. Upon graduation Ralph joined the United States Navy, serving from 1955 – 1958. After serving in the Navy Ralph moved to Janesville, WI, where he worked for General Motors. He then moved to Green Valley, MN, where he began a 45 year career as a Journeyman for East River Electric. He also worked for Gerard Louwagie on their farm north of Marshall, eventually becoming part of the family.
Ralph passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his son Bill (Jen) Louwagie and their children; and brother Mike (Karen) Leifgen. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Elizabeth Leifgen; siblings Lucille Leifgen, Vincent Leifgen, Barbara (Ferdinand) Hybertson, and Art Leifgen.
