MARSHALL – The Pride in the Tiger Foundation (PITF) has been awarded a generous $188,000 donation from the estate of James T. Rowe. Bill Paterson, Rowe’s stepson, presented the gift during a visit to Marshall. The funds will be divided between a scholarship endowment and a contribution fund aimed at supporting math initiatives in Marshall’s schools.

“Ted taught math for 33 years at Southwest Minnesota State University, and my mom was a teacher in Marshall. They both had such a passion for education, so this gift just exemplifies who they were as people,” said Paterson.

Ted Rowe, a community leader and long-serving faculty member at Southwest Minnesota State University, played a significant role in Marshall. His contributions included founding the Sunrise Rotary Club, serving on local commissions, and writing newspaper columns for over 30 years. He and his wife, Aileen, both have memorial scholarships in their honor.

“The Pride in the Tiger Foundation is so grateful for Ted and Aileen’s commitment to Marshall. This generous gift will make a lasting impact supporting our math educators in the classroom and students who wish to pursue math-related degrees beyond high school,” said Krista Bjella, Executive Director of PITF.

The Pride in the Tiger Foundation is dedicated to supporting educational programs and activities that promote children’s personal growth and excellence. More information can be found at www.prideinthetiger.org.
