MINNEOTA — The Minneota Fire Department was called out to a hay bale fire in the 3500 block of 220th Avenue, at approximately 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, crews observed several hundred hay bales on fire. Calls were sent out to area fire departments for assistance. Crews attempted to contain the blaze; however, it made its way to a nearby cattle barn. Firefighters stayed on the scene until 9:30, fighting the fire for approximately seven hours.
The cattle barn was a total loss. No injuries or animals were harmed in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minneota Fire Department.
