MONTEVIDEO – The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is celebrating Minnesota Veterans Homes Week from May 12-18. This annual event honors the dedicated staff caring for Veteran Residents and their families. The newly opened Montevideo Veterans Home, which welcomed its first residents earlier this year, joins in recognizing efforts to provide top-quality care and create a desirable workplace.
Employees make daily efforts to create joyful memories for Residents. During this special week, activities like staff contests, gratitude walls, special meals, dress-up days, and giveaways will enhance the warm, welcoming environment.
“These are just a few ways to say thank you to our employees for consistently showing up to deliver award-winning care and honor our Veterans’ legacies,” said Simone Hogan, Senior Director, Healthcare.
The newly built Veterans Home in Montevideo features the following amenities.
- Private bedrooms with private baths.
- Four, 18-Resident “households” to create a connected, small community feeling.
- A Town Center featuring a coffee shop/café, theatre/meeting room, dining room, game room, meditation room/chapel, club room for entertaining family and friends, and other communal spaces.
