ST. PAUL (KMHL) – Minnesota has had its first flu death of the season.

Yesterday, the Minnesota Department of Health announced the state’s first documented flu death. According to the news from MDH, the death was non-pediatric.

The number of people hospitalized from influenza-like sicknesses increased for the third straight week this week to 19. Influenza is expected to spread more rapidly in the weeks and months ahead.

MDH urges people who haven’t had their flu shots yet to get them now.
