Tickets for the 20th annual Minnesota Millionaire Raffle went on sale today, Tuesday, October 21, and officials expect them to sell out in about two weeks.
“It’s our 20th anniversary so we’re loading it with prizes,” said Minnesota Lottery Director Adam Prock. “There’s 20 thousand prizes including forty 20-thousand-dollar prizes and a whole bunch of other prizes, along with those two million-dollar prizes. It’s one of your best chances to win a million bucks.”
This year’s raffle features one million $10 tickets available at more than 3,000 retailers statewide. Prizes include two $1 million grand prizes, five $100,000 prizes, and 40 $20,000 prizes, along with thousands of smaller winnings.
Prock said tickets make great holiday gifts and tend to go fast. “We usually sell out much before that. In fact, last year we sold out in 15 days. So the tickets go fast, people get pretty excited, and they rush out to get ’em. We’ve got a million tickets this year, expect they will sell out very fast.”
The winning numbers will be drawn on New Year’s morning. “And what’s really exciting for us—we know for a fact that come New Year’s Day morning there are going to be two new millionaires in Minnesota. That’s pretty exciting,” Prock said.
