Calvin Michael Kern was born on May 2, 2024, in Marshall, MN, to Emily and Michael Kern. He joined his brothers Jameson and Wesley, who were so excited to welcome another baby boy to the family. From the day he was born, Booba’s (as he was called by all who loved him) big, beautiful personality was clear to everyone. He was always smiling, laughing, beaming, and saying hello to everyone. He loved to get messy and equally loved bath time. He was fearless and was always trying to keep up with his older brothers. He loved watching football with his brothers and would join them in cheering for the Lions. He also joyfully welcomed home anyone who walked through the door with the best “hi” and smile.
Booba was silly and funny all the time. He would make funny voices and silly noises to make everyone laugh. He cherished his nightly walk with his father, saying “hi” to everyone he saw. If he didn’t get a “hi” back, he would say “hi” louder! He also loved being outside, playing with his excavators and dump trucks in the sandbox. He cherished his stuffed animals Mr. Lion, Teddy, Mr. Monkey, and Mickey. They gave him nighttime kisses every night. He loved singing and dancing, especially stomping like a dinosaur. He loved all things dinosaurs! Calvin was the best hug-giver, snuggler, and had the most kissable cheeks. He loved his family so much and was loved by all.
Calvin died on October 13, 2026, at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls. He is survived by his parents Emily and Michael, his brothers Jameson and Wesley, his grandparents Darlene Peters and Blayne and Lori Kern; his aunts and uncles: Leah Peters (Matt), Paul Kern (Sarah), Amy Kern, Heidi Chell (Josh), and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Jeffrey Peters.
