MARSHALL (KMHL) – The Marshall City Council is making changes to council meetings in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Mayor Bob Byrnes announced Thursday that an in-person meeting is not practical or prudent – so two upcoming meetings – including Friday’s special meeting – are being moved to the MERIT Center to accommodate telephone and electronic participation for council members.

The two meetings that are affected are:

  • Friday, March 20 at 12:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 24 at 5:30 p.m.

The city says future council meeting locations will be determined by the city council during their meeting on March 24.

The city is also asking the public to practice social distancing by watching the meetings through the following ways:

The city also notes the regular Facebook live video will not be available for these meetings either.
