MARSHALL — The Marshall City Council has taken steps to move forward with plans for a new Aquatic Center despite recent financial setbacks. After bids for the project came in around $6 million higher than anticipated, council members rejected the bids earlier this month and began exploring other options.
This week, the council voted to hire a construction manager for the project, selecting Contegrity Group of Little Falls to help oversee its development. The decision follows interviews with several construction management firms, with a committee recommending Contegrity based on its experience and local ties.
Hiring Contegrity will come with an initial cost of $64,350 for pre-construction services, plus $364,650 during the construction phase. The city will also incur monthly costs of about $25,000 for on-site supervision. Despite higher-than-expected bids, the project is expected to continue with an 18-month construction schedule.
The council’s move to hire a construction manager aims to help control costs and keep the project on track.
