Marion Wilma Bennett, age 82, of Ivanhoe, Minnesota, passed away June 25, 2021, at the Hendricks Nursing Home. Memorial visitation will be held at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota, with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 2, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in the Diamond Lake Cemetery outside of Lake Benton. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hartquist Funeral Home – Lake Benton Chapel.
Marion Wilma Bennett was born July 13, 1938, to Fredrick and Emma (Schmahl) Galbraith in Tyler, Minnesota. She grew up on the farm in Drammen Township, attending elementary school at District 17 and graduating from Lake Benton High School. On July 30, 1960, Marion married Lawrence Bennett at Lake Benton Baptist Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with three children and over 60 years of life together. The couple lived at different Minnesota towns: Lake Wilson, Iona, Heron Lake, and Minneota, while Lawrence worked for various farmers. In 1973, they moved into Lake Benton. Marion worked at Divine Providence Hospital in Ivanhoe until her retirement in 2004. On Friday, June 25, 2021, Marion died peacefully at the Hendricks Nursing Home in Hendricks, Minnesota at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 12 days. Marion was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and baking.
Marion is lovingly remembered by her husband, Lawrence, of Lake Benton; her children, Steven (Donnita) Bennett of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Cynthia “Cindy” Bach of Hendricks, Minnesota, and Timothy Bennett of Marshall, Minnesota; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchild; her sister, Freida Grayden of St. Paul, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Raymond and Charles Galbraith.
