MARSHALL — Lyon County’s newest K9 has a name. Following a community coloring contest, Deputy Beau Swenson’s new partner has officially been named Roxxy.
The winning name was chosen by a group of young contest winners, including Shay Huso, Aidric Olson, Aliyah Brunsvold, Hazel Kimball, Leo Daniels, Laura Kor, Natalie Sandgren, and Lydia Brusven. In total, the contest received 268 name submissions.
Deputy Swenson and Roxxy are still undergoing several weeks of training before they begin duty. Once fully trained, Roxxy will be ready to serve and meet the citizens of Lyon County.
The Sheriff’s Office is also accepting donations to support the K9 program. Those interested in contributing can contact the office at 507-537-7666.
