MARSHALL — The Lyon County Historical Society in Marshall was named as one of 45 recipients of a large grant from the Minnesota Historical Society. A large grant is defined as $10,000 or more. The Lyon County Historical Society in Marshall will receive $141,000 to improve collections care and management through proper storage. The grant will be used for a compact storage system in the basement storage room of the Lyon County Museum. As part of the project, the collection will be removed and so the space can be renovated to fit the new compact storage system. Large grants are awarded annually to help nonprofits, educational organizations, government units, and federally recognized tribes to preserve and share Minnesota history.
