Lois Marian (Anderson) Larson entered the heavenly gates on August 13, 2021, at the age of 102.  Services will be at the Echo Alliance Church on Tuesday August 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm with visitation preceding the service from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will be at the Vesta Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Prairie Home Hospice or donors choice.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Prairie Home Hospice for their tender and compassionate care of Lois in her last months.  Sunset Funeral and Cremation of Echo is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born on December 12, 1918 at her parents’ rural Vesta home, the second child of Vernon and Anna (Busack) Anderson.  Lois attended elementary school in Vesta and graduated from Redwood Falls High School, class of 1936. She then attended Mankato State Teachers College and graduated with an elementary education degree in 1938. She taught in one room rural schools at Lafayette, Belview and Vesta.  On September 10, 1942, Lois was united in marriage to Ronald Wesley Larson at her parents’ home. They were married for 60 years until his death in October of 2002. Ronald and Lois welcomed four children to their farm home in Underwood Township near Vesta. Kathleen Ann, Marian Jeanne, Ramona Jo and Stephen Ronald. Lois was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an excellent homemaker and very active in her children’s’ academic progress and school activities as well as 4-H and church activities. She served many years as a Sunday School, VBS teacher and several women’s groups. She loved and served her Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful participant in Echo Alliance Church for more than 60 years.  Lois enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, needlework, bird watching, reading and puzzles of all kinds.  In 1984, Ronald and Lois retired from the farm and purchased a lake home in Cottonwood. They enjoyed living there for more than 15 years. In September, 2005 Lois moved to an apartment in Marshall and most recently to Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall.

Lois is survived by her four children, Kathleen Cole of Park Rapids, Marian (Rev. Donald) Fischer of Cottonwood, Ramona (Daryl) Kuehn of Echo and Stephen (Cindy) on the family farm near Vesta; five grandchildren Stephanie Fischer, Timothy (Kelli) Fischer, Jeffrey (Courtney) Kuehn, Thomas (Kara) Kuehn and Britta (Clay) Sharkey; nine great-grandchildren Riley Fischer, Grant, Parker and Annie Kuehn, Chloe and Olivia Kuehn and Elena, Cade and Remi Sharkey; and several nieces.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents; granddaughter Suzanne Cole; and son-in-law Roger Cole; sisters Naomi (James) Sinnott and Carol (Frank) Bridges; sisters-in-law Elaine (Harold)  Sickman and Virginia (Thomas) Elfstrum; and two nephews.
