Linda Broughton, age 74 of Minneota, died on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, with family by her side at Luther Haven in Montevideo. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, from 5 to 7 PM at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, rural Cottonwood, with a prayer service beginning at 6:45 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday, October 10th at 9:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 10 AM at the church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The JH Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield is handling the arrangements.

Linda Marie McIntire was born on April 24th, 1950, in Grinnell, Iowa to Lloyd Melvin McIntire and Ruth Christine Pattison. She grew up in and around Newton, Iowa with one older brother and three younger sisters. Linda attended a one room schoolhouse just outside Newton in 1955 before moving into town, where she graduated from Newton High School in 1968. After graduation she lived in Des Moines with her best friend of over 50 years, Roseann Baker, followed by her sister, Lu, until 1971.  Linda married Dennis Broughton of Minneota, MN at St. Lucas Lutheran Church on August 4th, 1973, and though she was a city girl from Iowa, she grew to love farming and country life over the next 51 years. Linda and Dennis welcomed their daughter, Sarah, into the world on June 5th, 1980.  Linda loved sewing and crocheting, gardening, listening to Elvis, cats, and her dog, Milo. “Gunsmoke” was Linda’s favorite TV show along with “Days of Our Lives.” She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at St. Lucas for many years.

Linda passed away on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 74. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ruth and an older brother, Jack.  She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dennis; daughter, Sarah (Earl); sisters, Lu, Pat (Ed), and Evie (Larry), and many nieces and nephews.
