LaVern Elmer Kuester, of Canby, MN, died on November 6, 2025, in Canby, Minnesota. He reached the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 5 days. A private internment will take place at a later date.  Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby is entrusted with the arrangements.

LaVern Elmer Kuester was born on June 1, 1943, in Canby, Minnesota.  He was the son of Elmer and Eunice (Olson) Kuester.  LaVern was baptized at St. Stephens Lutheran in Canby. He attended school and graduated from Canby High School with the class of 1961.  Following his formative school years, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was trained as an electrician.  He was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Service Medal.  Upon returning stateside, he lived in both Porter for several years and then back to Canby.  For twenty-three years he worked for Minnesota Department of Transportation as a Technician Interceptor surveying roads.  LaVern was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where he tied quilts and worked at the church fair stand.  He enjoyed playing cards and games with his family, fishing and putting jigsaw puzzles together.

He is survived by his brother, Raymond (Beryl) Kuester of Canby, nephews Patrick Allen of Redwood Falls, Kenny (Sharon) Allen of Granite Falls, nieces Sandra (Peter) Evangelist of Kent, OH, Pastor Janel Kuester of Cottonwood, Marney Negen of Willmar and great nephews and nieces, Justin, Joseph, James, Chance and Abigail and his good friend, Ron Wicklace.  LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Eunice, his sister and brother-in-law Joseph and Arlene Allen and nephew, Michael Allen.
