The funeral service for John Bode, 76, of Belview, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Posen Township. Visitation will be Friday, March 25, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery.  The Sunset Funeral Service in Echo is handling the arrangements.

John Curtis Bode was born on November 13, 1945, in Wood Lake, to Edgar and Lydia (Hennig) Bode. He grew up on the family farm in Posen Township. John attended St. Luke’s Lutheran School until eighth grade, then graduated from Wood Lake High School. Music was a constant comfort in John’s life, and he enjoyed all kinds of music. He enjoyed his St. Luke’s congregation family, and he was a member of the church choir for over 50 years. John was a lifelong farmer, over the years raising dairy cows, hogs, and various crops. He lived on the homestead until experiencing a life-altering stroke in April 2011, at which time he moved into Parkview Senior Living in Belview.

John died on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Parkview Senior Living in Belview. He is survived by his siblings Rev. Edgar (Helynn) Bode of Colorado Springs, CO, Judith (Rev. Lee) Eilert of Maineville, OH, Paul (Diana) Bode of Hudson, WI, Kristen (Michael) Brantley of Shiloh, IL, Daniel (Julie) Bode of Lee’s Summit, MO, and James (Mary Lynn Pulscher) Bode of Minneapolis; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Lydia Bode.
