Janet Marie (Woelber) Bahn was born on August 9, 1939, in Flandreau, SD, to William and Ruth (Johnson) Woelber. When Jan was a child, the family moved to Pipestone, MN. She grew up in Pipestone and graduated from Pipestone High School. Although their parents had been friends for years, Jan met her future husband, Marvin Bahn, at the Hollyhock Ballroom in Hatfield. On July 5, 1957, Jan and Marv were united in marriage in Pipestone. The couple moved to Marshall in 1965 with their son, Randy. Jan worked as a grocery clerk for over thirty years, beginning as a high schooler in Pipestone, then for thirteen years at Lloyd’s Fairway and nineteen years at HyVee, both in Marshall. Jan enjoyed Blackjack, and the couple would travel to Las Vegas a few times a year to play. She was an excellent baker, winning awards for her fresh bread. Jan’s goal was to teach each of her grandchildren to bake bread and pies (and it worked for one of them!). Jan also loved fancy jewelry, and she always looked her best.

Jan died on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall. She is survived by her husband Marvin of Marshall; daughter-in-law Julie of Marshall; grandson Dallas of Sioux Falls, SD; granddaughter Alissa (Andrew) Peterson of Byron, great-grandchildren Adelyn and Annika; and brother Jay (Susan) Woelber. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ruth, son Randy, and brother Jerry Woelber.
