BIRD ISLAND — Firefighters were called out to a house fire in Bird Island Sunday evening, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 8:17 Sunday evening, dispatch received a 911 call reporting a house fire in the 200 block of 4th Street in Bird Island. Upon arrival, Bird Island and Olivia Fire Department crews discovered smoke coming from a bedroom on the northwest side of the home. Fire crews worked to save the structure. The house sustained moderate fire and smoke damage. No injuries were reported. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
The Bird Island Fire Department, Olivia Fire Department, and Renville County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Olivia Police Department, Bird Island MRU, Olivia Ambulance, and Hector Ambulance.
