WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced that the Highway 59 concrete repair project will commence on July 8. This project involves two major sections: south of Marshall and south of Garvin. The expected completion date is October 18, weather permitting. 

Project Details: 

South of Marshall: 

  • Highway 59 from Lyon County Road 6 to Highway 23. 
  • Work will upgrade sidewalks and pedestrian crossings to meet ADA standards. 
  • Detour routes include Highway 23 and County Roads 35 and 6. 
  • Estimated duration: five weeks. 

South of Garvin: 

  • Highway 59 from 201st Street to Lyon County Road 14. 
  • Detour routes include Highway 14 and County Roads 5, 29, and 48. 
  • Estimated duration: seven weeks. 

Traffic Impacts: 

  • Detours will be in place for each section (see attached maps). 
  • Possible overlap of work zones and detours for up to five days. 
  • Short-term intersection closures for ADA improvements may require minor detours. 
  • Businesses along the route will remain open and accessible. 

Project Benefits:
