TRACY (KMHL) – Another southwest Minnesota road construction project begins today and this one will force motorists to take a detour in the area.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says work on work on US Highway 14 between Tracy and Revere gets started today.

In a press release, MnDOT says the $5.1 million project will resurface the highway and make guardrail and culvert improvements along the road. It will also allow for enhanced safety at intersections and crossing improvements that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The project will require a detour on the highway. The detour route will use Lyon County Roads 9, 2 and 11 and Redwood County Roads 4 and 7. Work crews will provide access to homes and businesses located along the construction route.

According to MnDOT, work on the road is expected to last through July 26th.
