SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Governor Tim Walz has ordered all U.S. and Minnesota flags at state buildings to be flown at half-staff on Sunday, September 28, in honor of Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.

The tribute recognizes firefighters who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. Flags will be lowered from sunrise to sunset.

“Firefighters put their lives on the line every day to keep Minnesotans safe,” Walz said. “We lower our flags to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and to recognize the families who carry their legacy forward.”

The governor encouraged individuals, businesses, and organizations across the state to join in lowering their flags as a sign of respect.
