PAYNESVILLE (LEARFIELD) – Seventh District Congressman Rep. Collin Peterson could have a formidable Republican challenger in 2020, as former Lieutenant Governor Michelle Fischbach announces she’s running for Congress.

The former state senator from Paynesville says western Minnesota voters need someone who represents their values and fights for them in Congress.

“Collin will call himself a moderate, but really he is supporting the liberal Pelosi agenda,” said Fischbach. “The Seventh District voted overwhelmingly for President Trump.”

Minnesota Democratic Party Chairman Ken Martin responds Peterson doesn’t toe the party line.

“People in western Minnesota know that,” said Martin. “I’m not sure how they’re gonna take to a hardcore ideologue like Michelle Fischbach.”

The election is a year from November.
