October Food Drive – First Interstate Bank of Marshall

First Interstate Bank of Marshall is partnering with the Marshall Food Shelf all October long for a food drive. Drop off your donations at the First Interstate Bank in Marshall Mon-Fri 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Suggested items for donation include: beans, cereal, canned fruit & vegetables, canned sauces, pancake mix, pasta sides, syrup, rice sides, granola bars, potato sides, garden fruits/vegetables, boxed meals/kits, hygiene items, baby items, soups, school supplies, & birthday kits or supplies.  

Wood Lake & Cottonwood Community Rummage Sales

Don't miss the Wood Lake & Cottonwood Community rummage sales October 5th-7th. Maps with the days and times for each sale location are available online at www.lakeview2167.com and will also be posted at local gas stations Wednesday, October 4th in the evening.  

Fall Dementia Education Event

Thursday October 5th will be the Fall Dementia Education Event featuring Jolene Brackey at Living Word Church. The start time has been changed to 9 a.m. from 10 a.m., with an afternoon session from 11:30 a.m. - 1: 30 p.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. For questions or further information call Angie at 507-532-1326.

Marshall Lyon-County Library's Reader's café live welcomes contemporary mystery writer Mary Seifert of Willmar, Minnesota to the Marshall Lyon-County Library on Thursday, October 5th at 6:30 p.m. for an author visit. Seifert is the Author of the Katie & Maverick cozy mysteries series. She is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, the American Cryptogram Association, Dog Writers of America, and PEO.

Annual Roast Beef Dinner – Church of St. Michael of Morgan, MN

Join the Church of St. Michael of Morgan Sunday, October 8th  from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for their annual roast beef dinner. Meals are 15$ available by drive-thru only. Please line up behind the church when attending.

Elisha Martius Cancer Benefit

A cancer benefit to help support Elisha Martius will take place October 8th in the gymnasium of Samuel Lutheran School in Marshall. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., with food served from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. There will be walking tacos, a bake sale, a silent auction, & also activities for children. City Coffee Hour – Bagels & Brew

Join us for the first City Coffee Hour 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Bagels & Brew October 9th for free coffee and conversations on the proposed Aquatic Center. The Mayor and Staff will be on hand to answer questions and take suggestions! There will be a 2nd and 3rd City Coffee Hour. The 2nd will be Tuesday, October 10th, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Main Stay Café. The 3rd will be Tuesday, October 17th, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Hy-Vee.

Starwatch Party W/Mike Lynch

The city of Marshall and the Marshall-Lyon county library want you to experience the night sky of southwest Minnesota! Join professional meteorologist Mike Lynch, Monday, October 9th starting at 7:00 p.m. at Patriot Park. Mike will have giant telescopes aimed at planets, the moon, and distant galaxies. The event is free and open to the public, so bundle yourself up and enjoy the stars! Patriot park is located on Windstar Street between Scott St and Ellis Ave, South of MN 23 and west of US 59. There is a rain date for Wednesday, October 11th if inclement weather occurs.

Join us for the second City Coffee Hour 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Main Stay Café, October 10th, for free coffee and conversations on the proposed Aquatic Center. 55+ Defensive Driving Refresher Course

Tracy Area High School 934 Pine St, Tracy, MN, United States

Tuesday, October 10th 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Tracy Area High School in room 132 will be the Minnesota Safety Council's Defensive Driving 55+ 4-hour refresher course.  If you have taken a state approved, eight-hour defensive driving course in the past, you can renew your 10%, 3-year car insurance discount by taking this state-approved refresher course. There is no driving test and no written test, you will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance company. Cost is 28$ and you must register by October 6th.
