‘Spooky Space’ Planetarium Shows

SMSU Planetarium

The SMSU Planetarium will host a pair of “Spooky Space: Cosmic Connections to Halloween” shows on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 4 and 7 p.m. The show will include a laser light display entitled “Fright Light.” Space has its monsters, says Planetarium Director Dr. Ken Murphy. “Black holes, zombie stars and spectacular ghostly nebulae,” he said. Come learn about these wonders of the universe, along with other mysterious phenomena happening in space, including a close-up look at humanity’s relationship with the moon. This is a new production for the Planetarium, said Murphy. The laser show will follow.

Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce

The Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to Historic Downtown Pipestone for the FREE 5th Annual Trunk or Treat & Downtown Candy Walk on Thursday, October 31st, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. With over 800 kids last year, this community celebration for our area’s youth is quickly becoming a Pipestone Area favorite! SMSU Social Work Club

The SMSU Social Work Club will be collecting non-perishable food items on Halloween night from 5pm to 7pm in Marshall. This long running tradition for the Social Work Club has donated thousands of pounds of food to the Marshall Kitchen Table Food Shelf over the years. SMSU Theatre season opens with Anne of Green Gables

The first show of SMSU Theatre’s 52nd season is Anne of Green Gables by Sylvia Ashby, based on the book by L.M. Montgomery. Performances are Nov. 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 3 and 10 at 2:00 p.m. Show tickets are $10 and are available at www.SMSUtickets.com and at the door.
