The Brookings Dance Club is hosting an October Dance to be held on October 19 at the McKnight Community Room with the dance band Huckleberry providing the dance music from 8pm until 12 midnight.  There will be door prizes and you are welcome to bring snacks to share.   Admission is $10 and you must be 21 to attend.  Come to dance and make new friends.  Bring your friends along. The theme for this dance is Homecoming and Halloween!  Dress  in whatever costume you want.  This will be fun!

The Buffalo Ridge Chorale along with the Oak Lake String Band will present their fall concert entitled "Home on the Range" 4:00 pm Sunday, October 20th at Christ Lutheran Church, Hendricks, Minnesota. The concert selections include For the Beauty of the Earth, Stephen Paulus's The Old Church, Home on the Range and many more. Admission is $8.00 and children 14 and under are free.

Southwest Minnesota State University Community Concert Band and the SMSU Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. John Ginocchio, will perform “De-Composition: Reimagining Works of Dead Composers,” on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre. The Southwest Minnesota State University Residence Hall Association (RHA) will host ResHALLoween on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4-7 p.m. in various residence halls on campus. ResHALLoween allows children from the community that are grades PreK-6 a chance to trick-or-treat through the residence halls of SMSU. There will be a wide variety of board game-themed houses, lots of candy, and fun for all! All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children are asked to wear their Halloween costumes and provide their own bag or container for candy. Admission for the event is one non-perishable food item or $1 per child. Donations [...]

Investing In Ivanhoe is bringing back their spook-tacluar Haunted Trail!! Hot Ham & Cheese supper begins at 5:30. Kiddie Trail is 6:30-7:30 & Trail of Terror is 7:30-9:00 pm. The mile wooded trail behind the school will be 'haunted' for the night...come and check it out! Lincoln Elementary Book Fair will also be open. Proceed will benefit new playground equipment for the city.
