A hands-on two-night getaway designed to build confidence in farm business, financial strategy, and community leadership—capped at just 19 participants.    Running an agricultural operation takes equal parts passion, grit, and business savvy. To help producers understand the business side of farming, University of Minnesota Extension is bringing back its highly acclaimed Annie’s Project Retreat from Thursday, October 24 to Saturday, October 26, 2026.

Held at the scenic Frog Tree Farm north of Verndale, in central Minnesota, this transformative time is specifically tailored for all those involved in agriculture—welcoming everyone from urban growers and rural ranchers to beginner, future and seasoned farmers alike.

“Farming today requires wearing a dozen different hats—from CFO and risk manager to labor coordinator,” said Susanne Hinrichs, U of M Extension Educator. “Annie’s Project gives participants a supportive, collaborative space to demystify farm management, ask the tough questions, and walk away with a real-world action plan and a network of peers who have their back.”

Elevating the 5 Pillars of Farm Management

Rather than dry, sit-and-listen lectures, the weekend offers an interactive environment focusing on the core business areas critical to agricultural success: financial strategies, business planning, risk management and introduction to ag resources. Co-creation of some meal items and seed art activities, as well as walks at the tree farm, make this a truly re-energizing retreat.

High Value, Limited Space

To keep workshop sessions personal, collaborative, and high-impact, capacity is strictly capped at the first 19 attendees.

Attendees receive comprehensive course materials, full weekend workshop access, all meals, and two nights of lodging at Frog Tree Farm. For more information about cost and further details, go to z.umn.edu/APRetreat2026.
