Come From Away Food & Essentials Drive

Bring the stage to life and donate to a cause! In honor of the musical’s real-life themes of community hospitality, SMSU Entertainment & Theatre Arts is seeking nonperishable food and essential items. We will use collected items on stage as props for the Come From Away performances, then donate them to our local food shelf and Mustang Market, SMSU’s permanent food and resource pantry.

• Acceptable items: Bulky items like paper towels, toilet paper, diapers, cereal, or large packaged food are preferred. We also accept nonperishable food, essential items/personal care products, and cash donations.
• Drop-off locations: SMSU Founders Hall (first floor), SMSU Fine Arts office (FA 207), and Marshall-Lyon County Library
• Deadline: October 16

Random Acts of Kindness throughout September and October
As we prepare for Entertainment and Theatre Arts’ upcoming production of Come From Away, we are inviting people to do random acts of kindness throughout September and October. From paying for someone’s coffee to smiling at a stranger, one small act of kindness can make a world of difference to someone. Then join us October 28 through November 1 as we celebrate the selfless acts of kindness done by the people of Gander, Newfoundland, when 38 planes landed in their town of 9,000 following the September 11, 2001, attacks.
