SAINT PAUL — While students enjoy a break, educators from across the state are gathering today in St. Paul for the annual Minnesota Educator Conference. Education Minnesota President Denise Specht explained:

“They are there to be better educators, especially now that they have met their students. They know what their kids need and what the districts are asking them to do, so — they are there to be better educators all around.”

Specht emphasized that this event is a key opportunity for professional development:

“We’ve got classes that address everything from the teacher shortage, offering lessons from managing your education debt and coping with stress on the job. Building networks for new educators. Just kind of that wellness aspect.”

In addition to the training sessions, Specht mentioned that attendees will hear from various speakers, including Micia Mosely, the founder and director of The Black Teacher Project in Oakland, California, who will deliver the keynote address.
