MARSHALL — Veterans who served between November 11, 1990 and October 1, 2013 may be eligible for enhanced benefits through the PACT Act.
Key components of the PACT Act include:
- Expanding and extending eligibility for VA health care for veterans with toxic exposures and veterans of the Vietnam era, Gulf War era, and Post-9/11 era.
- Ensures every enrolled veteran will receive an initial toxic exposure screening and a follow-up screening every five years.
- Requires VA research on the morality of veterans who served in Southwest Asia during the Gulf War; Post-9/11 veteran health trends; and veteran cancer rates.
- Authorizes construction of 31 new facilities across the country, providing greater access to VA health care.
Qualified veterans can visit va.gov/PACT or call 1-800-MY-VA-411 to file for benefits. There’s no deadline to apply for PACT Act benefits. But if you file your PACT Act claim—or quickly submit your intent to file—by August 9, 2023, you may receive benefits backdated to August 10, 2022.
