He greatly enjoyed woodworking and the sharing of his skills. He built barns on his farm, multiple items of furniture, and many clocks which were given to family and donated to church raffles. Throughout his life, David continued to learn and enjoy new woodworking skillsets, especially running a lathe to make bowls, utensils and urns. Later in life he began carving. He loved providing his many grandchildren with the gift of personalized carvings. Along with woodworking, David enjoyed fishing and playing cards in the company of friends and family. He was actively involved with St. Clotilde Catholic Church, Cottonwood School Board and SW Minnesota Dairy Association Board.
