The funeral service for Daniel “Dan” Sellin, 44, of Marshall, will be Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at the remembrance center. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. The Horvath Funeral Service in Marshall is handling the arrangements.
Daniel “Dan” Mark Sellin was born on July 1, 1978, in Ortonville, to William “Bill” and Brenda (Schwarze) Sellin. He grew up in Ortonville and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1997. Dan attended SMSU for a short time, where he met Velvet Schaefer. The couple was married on February 16, 2008, at St. James Episcopal Church in Marshall. Dan worked various jobs throughout his life, but his favorite was as a caregiver for REM. Dan enjoyed drawing, cooking, camping, and reading comic books. He also enjoyed watching movies and the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Wild.
Dan died peacefully at home surrounded by family and under the care of Avera at Home Hospice after a prolonged illness on Friday, May 26, 2023. He is survived by his wife Velvet Sellin; father Bill (Claudia) Sellin; brother Brian (Kari Ross) Sellin and niece Charlotte Sellin; brother Benjamin (Emily) Sellin; mother-in-law Monica Schaefer; father-in-law Joseph (Rose) Schaefer; sister-in-law Crystal (Jason) Hoffman; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Sellin; grandparents Darwood and Janis Sellin and Elmer and Betty Schwarze; and grandparents-in-law Charles and Betty Postolka and Marcel “Bud” and Eileen Schaefer.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical professionals at Abbott Northwestern, Marshall Dialysis, and Avera at Home Hospice who cared for Dan.
