CANBY -- As summer approaches and school draws to a close, the Red Cross is calling on healthy, eligible blood donors to step up and contribute during April. With many regular donors unavailable due to vacation plans, maintaining an adequate blood supply becomes challenging. To address this critical need, the Canby blood drive is scheduled for April 25th and 26th at the Sanford building. MARSHALL -- On Wednesday, April 17th, the Marshall Police Department responded to a call in the 100 block of East Main Street involving a family matter. A 63-year-old Marshall resident made verbal threats and fired a handgun at an officer on scene. The officer safely escorted another family member out of the residence before the suspect barricaded himself inside.  The Brown, Lyon, Redwood, and Renville Emergency Response Unit intervened, but negotiations failed. MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Cottonwood County authorities are continuing the search for a missing 15-year-old boy who was last seen Monday evening after canoeing on Eagle Lake with a family member. Cottonwood Man Indicted on Wire Fraud, Money Laundering Charges; Mental Health Evaluation Ordered

Last week, a federal grand jury charged a Cottonwood man with wire fraud, money laundering, and bankruptcy fraud, according to Minnesota District Court records. 44-year-old James Anthony Kroger. Kroger works as an assistant professor at Gustavus Adolphus College. He allegedly took advantage of his position managing a real estate company, embezzling over $600,000.  Although Kroger pleaded not guilty, the court ordered his detention for mental health evaluation.
