LAKE BENTON — A Brookings man was injured after his vehicle collided with a semi on Highway 14 in Lincoln County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 5:44 Sunday afternoon, a 2018 Kenworth semi was traveling westbound on Highway 14 in Verdi Township and attempted to turn right onto 145th avenue. A 2017 Honda RTL was also traveling westbound on Highway 14 when it collided with the Kenworth.
The driver of the Honda, 71-year-old Fathi Taha Halaweish of Brookings, SD, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Brookings hospital.
The driver of the Kenworth, 26-year-old Josef Jacobus Vandermerwe of Volga, SD, was not injured.
Assistance was provided by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Benton FD and First Responders, and Tyler Ambulance.
