Brett. W. Behnke, age 43, of Marshall formerly of Arco, MN passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in Canton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6th, 2020 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilmo, MN with burial in the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Wilno.
Brett William Behnke was born July 1st, 1976 in Tyler, MN, to Bill and Linda (Popowski) Behnke. He was baptized, received his First Communion and was confirmed into his Catholic faith at St. Johns Cantius Church in Wilno.
Brett graduated from Lincoln HI in 1994 and went on to attend Canby Tech School studying Soil and Water Conservation.
For many years he was the administrator for the Shell Rock River Watershed District in Freeborn County. Brett passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in Canton, SD at the age of 43.
Brett enjoyed gardening, grilling, camping, watching movies, playing cards, and traveling. No activities however, compared to the joy Brett had when spending time with his family and friends, particularly when on the lake. Brett’s infectious laughter and joyful smile will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his son, Tony and (Merrick) Behnke of Des Moines, IA, daughter, Kelsey and Tyler Newman of Sioux Falls, SD; parents, Bill and Linda Behnke of Arco, MN; sisters: Tami and (Brian) Behnke of Marshall, MN and Tricia Moravetz of Lynd, MN; nieces and nephews: Andy Behnke of Des Moines, IA, Jake Moravetz of Lynd, MN, and his daughter Brooklyn Moravetz; and Samantha Dale of Marshall, MN; and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Brett was preceded in death by his grandparents Norbert and Evelyn Behnke; Walter and Marge Popowski; step-grandmother Phyllis Behnke, and niece Paige Moravetz.
