Our farm’s old cottonwood branches hang a little lower today.  Blair Christian Anderson grew with this big old tree for 69 years, branching out to others … over the ocean to Denmark, out West into the mountains, and overseas to Nigeria & Vietnam where he committed to assisting in the teaching of whole life ministry to the poorest of the poor. The son of Gordon and Ethel Anderson, Blair married his beautiful bride and best friend, Louise Schweiss Anderson. They celebrated 41 years of having fun and doing life together. He was the playful one. The eternal dreamer, Blair found true life in Jesus Christ and lived as a faithful servant. A committed father to Justin (Kristina) Anderson, Ryan Anderson and Marnie (Brent) Kopischke, “Papa” was the most tender-hearted grandfather to Gordon, Crosby and Lexi Kopischke.  Papa fished with lime green worms, made special pancakes with Redi-Whip and sprinkles, and gave the best skid loader rides. He played endless rounds of “wrestle ball” on his leathered farmer hands and knees.  Blair thrived on mentoring others and working with a variety of people in his life. He treasured fellowship with anyone and could corner you for a 1:1 conversation unlike anyone we knew. He truly was a “Let’s fix it”, “I’ll be there” kind-of-man. United with Jesus, and his beloved son, Ryan, Blair died on September 13, 2022 with his work boots on doing what he loved most – playing in the woods, cutting down trees all while helping someone out.
He made sure you knew his heart by asking: “Has anybody told you yet today that they love you? Let me be the first. I do.” And then he’d say with a sparkle in his eye and as bright as fireworks, his famous statement learned in Denmark: Jeg elsker dej.

Surviving are his immediate family: Brother Owen Anderson (Lori), Fairfax, Sisters Carmen Anderson, LaGrange TX, Colleen Wray (Dave), Buffalo, Caroline Linden (Greg) Shorewood, Brother-in-laws Dick Schweiss (Becki), Hutchinson, Tom Schweiss, Welcome, Chuck Schweiss, Fairfax, Sister-in-laws Becky Hess (Gary), Alexandria, Ruth Swenson (Bruce), Nicollet, Jody Busch (Dave) Fairfax, Peggy Baldy (Tom) Spring Grove, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews who came to know Blair as, the playful one.

To God be the glory for Blair’s life. What a gift he was to us!

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Blair’s home church, Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, in the near future.
