Russell, MN (KMHL) – On Thursday, March 18th, at 11:48 PM the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call indicating that an adult male was found unresponsive within the roadway in Russell, MN. First responders were dispatched to the scene, and upon arrival located a 50 year old adult male who was unresponsive and was not breathing. The condition of the male was assessed, and he was found to have suffered severe traumatic injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as Shane Alan Sanow of Russel.

Located a short distance from Sanow, was a 4-wheeler ATV that reportedly belonged to him. Upon investigation of the scene, debris consistent with a recent motor vehicle crash was found and believed to be between Sanow (possibly involving the ATV in some manner) and a second unidentified motor vehicle.

Investigation of this matter including the cause of the crash and the identification of the involved second motor vehicle and its driver are ongoing.
