Arlis Mae (Jackels) Ourada, age 95, of Walnut Grove passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Sanford Westbrook Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 with a time of sharing at 7:30 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Walnut Grove. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arlis Mae (Jackels) Ourada was born to Truman and Olga (Nelson) Jackels on May 19, 1927 in Windom, Minnesota. She married Edward Ourada at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Walnut Grove on April 19, 1949. They were blessed with 9 children. Arlis was a loving, selfless and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She never forgot a birthday – sending a card for each one. Arlis loved to bake and cook. Some of her favorites were potato salad, apple crisp, apple pie, cookies and jam. She gardened and canned and made the best pickles! “Circle me books” were her name for word finds that she completed in her spare time. Arlis will be remembered by the tie blankets and embroidered dish towels that she created for the whole family.
Arlis is survived by her eight children: Eileen (Jeff) Olson of Florence, AZ, Teresa VanDeWiele of Lake Sarah, Duane (Kari) Ourada of Bloody Lake, Larry (Candy) Ourada of Colorado Springs, CO, Linda (Dan) Burns of St. Paul, Deanna McNamee of Colorado Springs, CO, Sandra Cooreman of Currie, and Betsy (Brad) Snyder of Milroy; son-in-law Mitch Einarson of Sudbury, VT, 28 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren, sister Lorriane Hammerschmidt of Faribault and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward; daughter Rita Einarson, granddaughter Ashley Snyder; sons-in-law Marvin Young, Dean McNamee & Fran VanDeWiele; grandson-in-law Chris Hannasch; and siblings: Arvin, Maynard & Larry Jackels, Maureen Jensen, and Juleen Warren.
